Are you an educator who is interested in social justice? Are you concerned about the rise in violence and bullying is schools? If so, Raise It Up in the educational resource for you!
WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre has developed an instructional framework called Raise it Up that looks at social systems and structures, and gives students the language and the tools they require to name and confront different forms of oppression.
The “Raise it Up” Instructional Framework has 3 primary objectives:
- To educate students about the oppressive social structures that produce social injustice.
- To demonstrate how these systems create and perpetuate violence.
- To motivate students to take action to create a socially just society and to give them tools and strategies that will enable them to do so
This resource is intended to give educators a variety of options, strategies, and activities to support youth in locating power, privilege, and oppression as systemic issues. The framework is classroom ready, including Black line masters, Teacher’s Response Keys and more!
