“Fag.” “Bitch.” “Loser.” These are more than just words.
Violence and “bullying” are on the rise in schools today. You hear about it, you see it, and maybe you’ve experienced it firsthand. But what is bullying and where does it come from? And have you ever wondered what you can do to stop it?
WAVAW’s Raise It Up curriculum helps unpack issues of violence and bullying. We believe it is important to go to the root of the problem and talk about where violence originates in the first place.
Raise It Up makes space in your classroom to discuss the issues that you deal with every day whether you’re in school, with your friends, or at home. It is filled with hands-on activities that show how sexism, racism, homophobia, and other oppressions are actually at the roots of “bullying,” and how these systems impact our lives.
Through Raise It Up you can investigate the larger social systems that perpetuate violence, explore how all of us are part of these systems and how we can change them, and then strategize ways to take action to create a more just world!
What can you do?
